The choice of finish is also important for maintenance. For example, a polished stone will be easier to clean than a flamed stone. Therefore, coatings or impregnating agents are used to make maintenance easier. The absorption of a material is also an important factor. The smaller the absorption factor, the easier to maintain, also here coatings are possible that simplify maintenance.
Natuursteeninfo BV works with LITHOFIN maintenance products. These are easy to order.
CAUTION: Never mix different maintenance products.
Due to the presence of, among other things, solvents in the various types of maintenance product, there is a risk that the protective properties will be negatively affected.
Maintenance: The adjuster / shelf should remove all dirty residue immediately after processing in order to prevent a cement veil, if necessary apply an appropriate cleaning agent. LITHOFIN Dirt Remover (no acidic product).
The first 3-6 months clean with pure water and vacuum cleaner, if necessary add a small amount of LITHOFIN Wash and Clean to the mopping water to simplify maintenance. Never use products that close the pores, they slow down the drying process and can cause damage because the moisture cannot evaporate from stone. For very porous limestone types, only clean by vacuuming, possibly use some Marseille soap later, 1 hand per 10 liters of water, never apply to polished surfaces and compact stones.
Checking whether the floor is dry should always be done with a moisture meter, especially before applying an impregnating agent. It is of course possible to have this done by Natuursteeninfo BV. The costs are €. 50.00 euros per address and only if we have supplied the material. After the floor is completely dry, the floor can be treated with a LITHOFIN stain stopper in bathroom and kitchens, this is definitely recommended, do not use stain stopper with Bluestone, Asian Bleu, Basalt. Grinding / polishing on site: with the addition of a lot of water, a layer of the floor is mechanically grinded, the water serves to cool the discs and to drain the sludge, with increasingly finer discs the original gloss is obtained, difficult angles are regrind small tools. Advantage: height differences are eliminated, so that one can speak of a certain added value. This is the most common way of working in Italy / Greece, among others.
